Singapore stopover

We are panning a 3 day stopover in Singapore on our way to the UK in June next year. We are not sure where to stay and what to see. Is it cheaper to buy day tour tickets on line or at the hotel. Any help appreciated.

Hi, cheryl60Adelaide, and welcome to Ta forums!

1/ please state your budget/ room/ night???

SIN is a compact city with perfectly working public transport, so the only thing that matters is the depth of your pocket.

2/ things to do and other valuable tips are here:

yoursingapore.com

3/ all tickets to local attractions are better to purchase on the spot at the entrance booth, transport cards - ez-link- are available, but for 2-3 day visit standard ticket is abetter option.

Thank you for your reply. Was hoping to get nice hotel for around 90-100 Australian dollars per night. Not fussed on pool or anything as long as room is nice.

Unfortunately this is a low budget for SIN, decent hotel start rates from 150 USD ++ ( 17, 7 % of service charge and tax). The best recommended options are:

Residence @ SRC

Royal@ Queens

The Bliss

Scarlet

Jayleen 1918

Hotel1929

Bay View

Peninsula Excelsior

check the rates on expedia.com or similar.

Hi,

You could consider staying in an inn, inns like Adler Hostel in Chinatown are within your budget and they are usually wihin the city area. Great for travelling to and fro. The Pod is a boutique Hotel, locate in Bugis prices range from $50 per night, per bed, you would have to check if they have ensuite rooms though.

Hope this helps!

Hi, you could also check out economy-tier chain hotels such as Fragrance Hotel, Hotel 81, and Value Hotel. It is definitely under USD 150, and is much nicer than what most people would expect. Do check them out. For tours, it is often cheaper to buy on-the-spot rather than online.

Hello Cheryl60adelaide,

Hostels generally only have shared bathrooms on the same floor as the dorms. For Aust$90-100 you might find it difficult to find a good budget hotel in Singapore. Its a popular and pricey destination. A few budget options are good value, comfortable, clean and in good locations, but lack the fancy facilities of higher category hotels. Take a look at:-

Soluxe Inn, MacKenzie Road

Kam Leng Hotel

Perak Hotel

Santa Grand chain of hotels has some good ones - Little India, Bugis, Lai Chun Yuen

If you increase your budget by $50 a night you could try:-

V Bencoolen Hotel

Bliss Hotel

Ibis Bencoolen Hotel

BIG Hotel, Middle Road

For a longer list of Hotels in Singapore this article breaks it down from budget 3 star places upwards:-

There is a lot more information in the links in the Top Questions section on the right-hand side of this page.
