trip suggestion and advice

Hi, will be in singapore dec. 22-29. I have my itinerary below. I would like to ask for advice if its clustered ok, am I going all over the place ? and if there's something else that I should see and consider? I have a boy 8yrs old with us.

Day 1: arrival at night just have dinner and sleep Staying at Marina Mandarin

Day 2: Thinking of doing Ducktour cruise in morning. Then head to Adventure cove. Dinner maybe at Orchard rd area.

Day3: USS

Day 4: Bugis area in the morning then go to Marina area (garden by the bay, helix bridge, esplanade, fullerton one, artscience museum, MBS) then light and sound show at night

Day 5: goto Legoland (I am opting out of legoland waterpark bec. I don't think i can still do 2 parks wth the border traffic and crowded people. we have to leave park by 430 to catch the 5pm bus back.)

Day 6: River Safari, vivo city, then crane show or lake show of dreams at night.

Day 7: Botanical Garden, Chinatown area , Clark Quay

Day 8: go back home.

thanks in advance

Me^Only,

Not sure about your evening suggestion for day 1. If they are staying at Marina Mandarin (attached to Marina Square Mall) near the Esplanade it would be a long walk to Ngee Ann City or 313 Somerset. Were you thinking of Mandarin Orchard Hotel?

I would suggest having dinner in Marina Square Mall (access via your hotel), or Makansutra Gluttons Bay near Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, and maybe a stroll along the Esplanade before heading back to Marina Mandarin.

3. Re: trip suggestion and advice

Thank Me^only and Avanti50 for your inputs and suggestions. Could you point me to a grocery or supermarket near my hotel? I am thinking of buying sandwiches and drinks to bring with me on Adventure Cove, USS and Legoland as I know that theme park food are not really worth it. I read somewhere that I could get locker and put it there and keep my food there and maybe go back there during lunch or snack? Or are there any option that is good food outside of the park that I can go to? Also, since I will be probably starting my trip or ending my trip at the Sing Flyer quite a lot any food or restaurant you guys might recommend?

There is this rather Nice Pullman Bakery at Millenia walk which U can check out :D

Address: No.9 Raffles Boulevard, #01-97/98, Millenia Walk Singapore 039596

Opening hours: Mon - Fri : 7.30am-9.30pm Sat/Sun/PH : 8.30am-9.30pm

…blogspot.sg/2012/07/pullman-bakery.html

…blogspot.sg/2013/06/pullman-bakery-millenia…

===> U can walk there via the walkway connecting Marina Square to Millenia walk. The Bakery is at the Other End Entrance from where U enter :D

If U are going Via Sentosa Express from vivocity Mall, I suggest U go basement 2 of Vivocity where the Food court are, U can get Don Pie for Lunch......They have a Branch in Millenia walk too. And they wrap their pie with Aluminium wrapper to keep it warm then into big Pizza style box.......http://www.donpieclub.com.sg/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=49&lang=en

There is also Subway too :D......

I read somewhere that I could get locker and put it there and keep my food there and maybe go back there during lunch or snack?

===> Lockers are available to store any spare clothes, for a fee

Locker are Located On the Opposite side of the Ticketing Counter of USS (As U face the Entrance, it on Ur Right side before going in - behind that Chocolate store)....

Or are there any option that is good food outside of the park that I can go to?

==> If U like, U can try Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao

rwsentosa.com/language/id-ID/Homepage/Restau…

===> Take the Escalator going down to the Casino Entrance :D

Also, since I will be probably starting my trip or ending my trip at the Sing Flyer quite a lot any food or restaurant you guys might recommend?

===> There is the Food Court at the Flyer, which serve rather mediocre food

===> I would go Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

Or simply Just walk to Marina Square Food Loft (3rd Floor) & eat there with Nice night view of the Central Business district........

Another Options at Marina Square is Dian Xiao Er @ Unit: #02-203/204

===> Along the same stretch as Dian Xiao Er, there are many other restaurant too. And the level below Dian Xiao Er is another stretch of Food Outlet.......

===> After eating can walk back to Hotel :D There is side entrance to hotel from the Mall.

There is also my favourite Qi Ji at Unit: #01-06 for Popiah, Laksa & Nasi Lemak :D

Use the Marina Square Interactive Directory to find Ur way around:

Happy Holiday

5. Re: trip suggestion and advice

Thanks once again Me^only, another question is would you advice us to just take the taxi going to USS as I read somewhere it would only cost around S$8 for 3 of us rather than take the smrt ? I seem to be confused looking at the network map of smrt and couldn't find the USS stop in it? We want to be at USS around 9am before opening just to be ahead. Taking the free shuttle from our hotel we would arrive there at 930am I think so we might encounter lots of que already on the gates? Also, River safari is quite a bit far and it might take 1.5hrs to travel using bus and smrt so taxi would be a better option? advice pls. thanks.

taxi is faster and easier for both.

if you want to take the mrt to USS/sentosa you have to take train from somerset to dhoby ghaut change to NEL train to harbour front then change to the sentosa monorail.

to river safari is even further as you have mentioned but I believe there is a shuttle $5 per person to the zoo from the orchard area if you want to save some $

===> Yes, take a Taxi to sentosa & the fare is approx. S$8 (tell Taxi Driver Resort World Sentosa)

Cos if U say Sentosa & he goes thru Sentosa gate U pay more :D)

Taxi have the right to Resort World Sentosa Taxi stand.

On Ur way back to Hotel OR Suntec City, U can take MRT (If U went to Vivocity after Sentosa)...

Also, River safari is quite a bit far and it might take 1.5hrs to travel using bus and smrt so taxi would be a better option?

===> Yes, go By Taxi :D That long distance

In the city, U can Zoom around using the MRT. Look at the Top Questions About Singapore; under Topic Visiting > What to see/do in Singapore (Attractions around Circle Line MRT Station)

There is Map & guide in there which U can print out.

Use this to help U plan Ur route:

esplanade.com.sg/eat_drink_shop/…index.jsp

Operating Hours: Mon-Thu: 5pm - 2am / Fri-Sat: 5pm - 3am / Sun: 4pm - 1am

mylifeinsin.com/2013/02/makansutra-gluttons-…

==> My only favourite food: Satay from Alhambra Satay with that Special spicy dark Sauce (U can help urself - or ask for it - Peanut Sauce is complimentary) & also their Prata / Murtabak :D......Won't order from other stall, Cos I dun like the idea of ordering atleast 2 BBQ Wing when I only want 1 :D........Dun like the Hokkien prawn noodle, cos it soggy :D & the Char Kway teow is bad :D

Cheers

visitvacations - have a great trip to Singapore. So much to see and do and eat around your hotel it will be wonderful.

Me^Only - No worries. The hotel scene in Singapore is getting so confusing now - with all the Fullerton's, Naumi's, Pan Pacific's, Carlton's, Mandarin's, Grand Parks, Santa Grand's, and V Hotels. Too many places with only slightly different names. Makes our work harder!
