Taxi fare from Changi Airport to Marina Bay Cruise Center

Hi: What time of a Sunday morning is it best to take a taxi to the Marina Bay Cruise Center? Just thinking about the traffic, etc. Since we will be arriving about 1:30 a.m. that morning; just plan to hang around at the airport...what is the safest thing to do? Until we can get to the cruise port? I read someone say Mc Donalds, but not sure whether it was meant as a joke. And what is the approximate price in Singapore Dollars or US Dollars should it be for the taxi fare? The cruise ship's price is US$29 per person. Is it true that arriving passengers cannot use the airport lounges, i.e. United. And it is only available for departing passengers? Arrival date is February 2, 2014 (Sunday). Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Aloha

A taxi will be around S$20 after 6am or around S$28 between midnight and 6am. Price is per cab regardless of number of passengers. There is little point turning up at the cruise terminal if you are not able to board, so hang out at the airport or book a 6 hour slot at the Transit hotel airside. To make use of the facilities at the airport you need to stay airside, then go through immigration ( at the Terminal your flight landed) in the morning to collect your luggage from the counters in the luggage hall.

if you are arriving at 1.30am and intending to hang around until your hotel check-in/cruise departure? I agree with mankster...you can stay put at the Changi airport transit area and take advantage of the amenities there. There really isn't much out there during the twilight hours on a sunday. on top of that, Chinese new year starts on 31 Jan and some businesses remain closed on the 3rd day (2 Feb).

The attendants will carry your luggage to the lost&found counter near your luggage belt so do remember to check your belt number when you arrive.

if you think it is too much of a risk to leave your luggage unattended, yes check into the transit hotel (Crown Prince hotel) or you can consider the Bay Hotel, near the cruise centre.

I agree with Daveze, Singapore has a fine airport with extensive facilities. We stayed in a hotel for a 6 hrs block of time, for a rest and a shower. We had booked a van before we got to Singapore, to take us to he cruise terminal(4 people) - the quoted charge was for $60S, but by the the time he added waiting time and being very reluctant to move our bags, we ended paying $100.00S and he was still not satisfied! I would recommend using the metered yellow taxi for about $25S. Althought Singapore has a good reputation for honest dealings, we seemed to have ended up with a crook!

Hello 911Ernie11,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Yes, all it takes is just one bad apple. I hope it did not spoil your trip and views of Singapore. Do come back and next time, do ask here first. Taking a taxi is most convenient and a relatively cheaper option, even for 2 taxis. A maxicab will cost the same, $60, and without the hassle of prebooking.

Hope to see you again. ;)

Hi everyone: Many many thanks for all the wonderful suggestions; so will definitely take a taxi (someone suggested a yellow cab) to the cruiseport from the airport. Again, with great appreciation and Aloha Kay

Hello kshlee,

It doesn't have to be a yellow taxi. In fact, taxis in Singapore come in many colors and all are by licensed operators. Just join the taxi rank once you have cleared Customs. Tell the attendant that you want a regular taxi as the limousine taxis are more expensive.

Cheers
