7 day Singapore - Malaysia family plan in May14

We are a family of 4 - 2+2 kids (13 & 9 yrs).

Planning to visit Singapore & Malaysia for 7 days from India. Need your expert inputs on planning the itinerary.

My plan is for 4 days in Singapore followed by 3 days in Malaysia.

Is this the right spread of days? Or should it be other way?

On the sights, my current understanding for Singapore is as follows. Need your expert comments on them.

I think this is being too ambitious as well - as we want a relaxed vacation.

MUST DO -

- Universal Studio

- Singapore Zoo

- Marina Bay Sands

- River Cruise

CAN BE AVOIDED

- Singapore Flyer - MBS Skydeck is better and allows for greater time. Marina Fly Deck is also an option

- Jurong Bird Park - KL has bigger and better bird park

- Little India - KL China Town is a better shopping place.

- River Safari - Average. Repetition, if doing the zoo.

OTHER OPTIONS - need opinion on them.

- Botanical Garden + Orchid Garden

- Underwater World

- Boat Quay + Clark Quay

- Singapore Flight Experience

- Science Centre

- National Museum

- Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

- Tech Plaza in Sim Lim Square

Thanks in advance.

- Universal Studio (1 day. There should be time for Luge, Crane Show and shopping at Vivocity/Harbourfront Cruise Centre)

- Singapore Zoo (1 day)

- Marina Bay Sands+River Cruise (1 day).

I think your kids will enjoy Science Centre (2-3h). You can then visit Chinese Garden which is a short cab/MRT ride away or go to Chinatown and visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

The river cruise will pass by Boat Quay and Clarke Quay.

Funan Digital Mall is a safer place to shop for technology items. Search the forum for Sim Lim Square to see the potential problems and decide if you want to brave the place.

Hello,

Look in our Top Questions section for the warnings about shopping at Sim Lim Square. You can find Top Questions near the top of this large, and down the right-hand side. The shopping links are towards the end of the list.

For the convenience, make sure that you fly Mumbai to Kuala Lumpur and the return flight from Singapore to Mumbai.

I would suggest you to keep 2 days in KL and rest all in Singapore.

Hi Sanjeev, Avanti50, Mixnbaby,

Thanks so much for your feedback. Apologies for the late reply.

Sanjeev>> I was planning on the opposite - first Singapore then KL. Any particular reason for this?

The reason I planned on Sg first was to do the shopping in KL and fly back home - else will have to lug it around.

Yes, I suggested Singapore later only for shopping as Indians like to buy electronic items, which is cheaper in Singapore. Also the bus fare from KL to Singapore will be much cheaper than Singapore to KL. Anyways not much of a difference. Also depends on the flights timings and ticket prices.
