Singapore in May 2014

Hi

I am planning to visit Singapore around 20th May for about 6 days with family. This will be our first visit. Want to know how will the weather be? Is it advisable to go during this time.....

I have heard that Singapore has almost the same weather throughout.....please advise.

Weather will be much the same as most of the year....hot, humid, sunny with a risk of rain on any day that usually arrives as a heavy cloudburst of 30-60mins duration. May is a perfectly good time to go from that perspective.

Yep, pretty much the same all year round. Certainly visitors wouldn't notice the difference. May is one of the ''drier'' months, as opposed to say Dec thru Feb when a little more rain is likely.

Most days are hot, humid with occasional short sharp showers and sometimes violent thunder storms, but they don't last very long usually.

What you have heard about Singapore's weather is absolutely correct. Temperatures in May are likely to be a bit hotter but Singapore's tourist attractions have ample shelters if you want to take a break from the sun. If you are used to Delhi's climate, then temperature should not be an issue for you. What you may not be accustomed to is the high humidity. Be prepared for a lot of perspiration when in the outdoors and keep yourself sufficiently hydrated. And as others have mentioned, do expect an occasional shower, while you are in Singapore, no matter which time of the year it is. Have a great trip!

Its same weather through out in Singapore and as mentioned bit of cloudburst. Typically you can look at the weather report from the apps available in Singapore and also specifically across the locations in Singapore. You can plan your trips accordingly ie indoor attractions if its raining..Your family consists of ? Hope your travel itinery is ready for 6 days..

Family consists of 3 adults n 1 child aged 5. Will going in June be a better option because of the Singapore festival?

I cant think of any festival in June. However, it is a month of school holiday, expect crowds in tourist attraction like the zoo, bird parks.

Well, there's the Great Singapore Sale...

That said, do come in May if it's all possible.

June to October is haze season. It tends to occur in the latter part of the duration, although we got hit horribly in mid-June last year.

Much depends on the number of hotspots in Riau; whether there's an El Nino/El Nina effect that delays rain; & low-level winds that may direct the smog to Peninsula Malaysia instead.

Generally speaking though, the period is also when there is rampant slash-&-burn farming in Sumatra, with the trade winds switching to blow northeasterly across the Straits of Malacca.

Its better in May. In June, all the places tend to be crowded due to School Holidays.
