salta to bariloche

we are going to visit a friend who lives in Bariloche in Septrember. Beacause it's off-season in Bariloche we really would like to visit northern Argentina, especially Salata, Jujuy and Tucuman. We don't know exactly where and what (so if u have a must see...)

Since we've got only one month all-in-all in Argentina, we would like some recomandations on the best way to travel from Salta to Bariloche by bus. It seems there is no direct line beetwin the two destinations. What bus companies and exchange points are recomended?

I am not familiar with the bus routes, but I found this link to Trip Reports on the Northwest and they should be helpful to you.

The NW of Argentina is really interesting, complettelly different to BAriloche. the scenery is more dramatic, colourful, lots of typical dishes, wine, lot of wine,.... salt flats, your mind will get plenty of sensations... LOts of colonial town with a lot of ancient culture in their daily life....

Do not miss it...

You can take buses from Salta to Mendoza and Mendoza - Bariloche... lot of bus ride.

Enjoy it.

I agree with Angie!

You can do Salta/Mendoza, stay there one night and explore the area that is absolutely lovely, and then continue to Bariloche.

You an do Salta City, then Cafayate, and then Purmamarca and Humahuaca.

The area is very relaxing, you can chooose either to be based in Salta and to do day trips (to be honest it's a lot of time traveling, but still get to see a lot and maybe better if you prefer to stay in a city), or do overnight in Cafayate and Purmamarca.

Depending how long are you planning to stay in the area, I might recommend crossing to Chile and visiting San Pedro de Atacama, the little town in the driest desert of the world!

Have a lovely trip!

If this is the route that is best, you should stay more than one night in Mendoza and visit the wineries. Hire a bike and cycle to them.
