Argentina Reciprocity fee

Does anyone know any details on this? "Effective immediately, any passenger visiting Argentina with an American, Canadian or Australian passport will be required to pay in advance the Reciprocity Fee online. " We will be flying from IGR to AEP on 11/27, would we have to pay that fee as Americans? It seems to have certain dates and airports that fall into the mix of having to pay this and can we pay when we get there instead of in advance? Any information would be appreciated!

To your first question, yes, U.S. citizens pay a $160 reciprocity fee at AEP and EZE.

Second question, no, you have to pay in advance and present the receipt at customs.

You only pay if arriving in Argentina on an international flight into AEP or EZE. If you are flying IGR to AEP, that is a domestic flight.

I was advised that we need to pay the Reciprocity Fee to enter Argentina even if entering by a cruise ship. We paid the fee. Now we are finding out that cruise pasengers do not have to pay the fee. ny ideas on how to get the fee refunded that we have already paid?

If you are arriving after the 7th of January you pay the fee no matter how or where you enter Argentina. The rules change on that date. Formerly cruise passengers did not pay.

Cruise passengers arriving until June 30, 2013, are EXEMPT. The payment system for them kicks in on July 1, 2013.

However, all other entries, by land, sea or air, require the prepayment as of January 7, 2013. that means payment before boarding a plane or bus, or you will not be able to board.
