Of course we want to see the main cities but really hope to devote most of our time down south. How much time can we get away with in cordoba Mendoza and the capital bearing in mind the travel times to get there and only expecting to see the highlights than get a real feel for each place.

Internal flights to Patagonia seem expensive but perhaps could be justified if we needed to free up more time to explore the cities

1. Re: Cities

Since Argentina is such a large country, and considering that you do not have the large selections of airlines which you see in Europe and the States, then it's best to limit yourself to a few selections of destinations.

Have a look at www.welcomeargentina.com, ww.interpatagonia.com for more discussions on the different destinations.

Depending on the length of your holiday and the time of year then you might want to focus on either North or South of Argentina. For the North then Iguazu Falls, the Salta Area,Mendoza, and including then Buenos Aires and Cordoba..

For the South, then Buenos Aires,Mendoza,Bariloche,El Calafate,Puerto Madryn,Ushuaia.

Maybe approaching the holiday this way then you could save on some airfares.

Have fun with your holiday planning

2. Re: Cities

I would say for each city on it self: Buenos Aires 3 to 4 days, Córdoba 1-2 days, Mendoza 1-2 days. But do know that the surroundings of Mendoza and Córdoba offer much more possibilities for nice day trips. Traveling that way you can easily spend one week in all the mentioned areas, taking the city as your home base and for example rent a car to explore the region.

Enjoy Argentina!
