2 week trip to Argentina in late Feb/early March

My husband and I would like to take a trip to Argentina next spring but due to the size of the country are not sure of what type of itinerary is possible. We do not like big cities so will be happy to skip BA but would like to take in the wine country, see some of the smaller cities of interest, do some hiking, and take in the natural beauty. We would be travelling on a fairly tight budget but not one that would limit us to youth hostels and bus travel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have a look at www.plataforma10.com to see the bus schedules to various destinations in Argentina.

For many of the destinations then at least overnight bus journeys will be the norm.

If you want to skip Buenos Aires, then you might consider flying into Santiago, Chile then proceed via bus over the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina. From here, you can take the bus to Salta, which is an excellent area for trekking and wineries. From Salta, you can take the bus to Iguazu Falls, then from Iguazu then you can take the bus to Buenos Aires for your flight home.

You can accomplish this same route in reverse if the flights work out best for you.

Have a look at www.welcomeargentina.com for more info on the destinations.
