Brazil visa, no airline tickets to Brazil

The web site for the Brazil consulate states that to obtain a visa for Brazil, you need to show your airline tickets in and out of Brazil. We are flying in and out of Argentina and plan to enter Brazil at the falls. Does anyone know if we will have a problem getting our visa? We can provide our tickets to and from Argentina.

Thank you.

It should not be a problem, but make sure you get your visa before you leave the United States. Good luck

They seem most interested in your arrangements to the region and that you can show a return trip home already booked.

Be aware that some Brazilian consulates have a waiting period of up to 5 weeks, depending on your region of the US, just for an appointment to deliver the paperwork and application, and it costs $140 in a USPS Money Order only.

Then it can take a *minimum* of one week to process the visa. I mis-read my own appointment time and missed it. I was lucky to locate a "visa expediter"in New York, which still needed the week's processing, and also cost an additional $140. That's reciprocity for you, as our Brazilian friends will point out; we put their citizens applying for US visas through this and more.

The good news is that the visa is good for 10 years of multiple entries or for the remaining life of your passport. It's just that Brazil is not the place for a spontaneous first visit without serious planning.
