3 days near Santiago

We will be going to Chile in February and will be spemdimg time in Santiago, Easter Island, San Pedro de Atacama, Valparaiso, and Zapallar. We have 3 'free days' (Friday midday to Monday afternoon) between returning from San Pedro (flying Calama to Santiago) and arrival in Valparaiso. We'd like to get out into the countryside, maybe visit some national parks, do some kayaking, maybe stay overnight at a vineyard, maybe see Isla Negra. We are trying to figure out a good itinerary that would not involve fighting weekend crowds and would also not require really long car rides. Any suggestions on possible itineraries? Thank you! (I am not sure where to post this so I am posting it in the general Chile forum and in Santiago forum.)

Isla Negra is on the coast while the other things you would like to do involve going into the Andes. Not that the two are far apart. It is about one Hors drive from Santiago to Isla Negra taking the highway to San Antonio and turning north along Ruta F-962-G. You could stay overnight at the Matetic vineyard, www.mateticvineyards.cl.

The other activities are all possible in the Cajón del Maipo just south of Santiago into the Andes.

When visting Isla Negra and you want to avoid crowds, traffic on the road, etc. do not attempt to go north or south of Isla Negra on the coastal road backtrack on the toll road mentioned by toid.

Thanks for your replies. Any recommendations on places to stay in Cajón del Maipo? I have heard about Cascada de las Animas. Is that a good choice? Any other possibilities? How long would the drive from Cajón del Maipo to Isla Negra take?

Thank you!

I would abolutely suggest a visit to the andes. Cajon dl Maipo is a good options, but please note that the most impressive places such as El Morado Glacier a at the end of Cajon del Maipo.

Laguna del inca is anotehr nice place to visit.

In Cajon, Cascada is a good option. Other nice cabinsa re Santuario de Las Animas.

A couple of nice hotels are Casabosque and Altiplanico.

The Altiplanico looks lovely. Maybe we will spend a couple of nights there and then one night in Quintay (to see Isla Negra) on the way to Valparaiso. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay in Quintay? Or nearby?

There are no hotels in Quintay, but there is a small hotel in Isla Negra.
