Hey Cristian,

It sort of depends on what you are interested in and where you will be. Chile is over 4,000 km from north to south, so its difficult to see it all in 5 days.

What makes you want to go there? (Please don't say "must-sees") :-)

If you are only going for 5 days then you can forget about the extreme south of Easter Island. Your choice lies in spening your time in Central Chile, Santiago, Valparaiso and wineries, going to the Lake district or going to San Pedro de Atacama.

Overall, I would estimate that the cost of livingin Chile is 60 to 70% of that in Toronto.

Have a look at San Pedro de Atacama. It would suit your timeframe and is a good destination at any time of year. You would fly to Calama and take a shuttle from there.

If this is your first time in Chile I would spend time in Santiago, Valparaiso, Vina del Mar and go to some wineries.

Read about the things to do in each city:

Why don't you have peace in your soul now? What is troubling you? A spell in the desert may help, but it is better if you are open and honest about what is troubling you..

Otherwise you are merely delaying confronting the issues giving you trouble.

Escapism is not travel.

We are arriving in Valparaiso around 7am and our flight leaves from Santiago at 2am the next morning. I am hoping to find a quick tour of Valparaiso in the morning then take a bus to Santiago for the afternoon and dinner.

It is always nice to have a walking tour or inexpensive guide, but if that is not available, we can plan our own trip using public transportation. Does anyone have any suggestions ?
