Weather in August/September

Just wondering if anyone could help us, were off to South America for a few weeks nest August-September we’re starting in Rio then heading to Buenos Aires, then fly to Barioche for a lake crossing the Nahuel Huapi Lake and then the Frias Lake to Peulla in Chile. Then staying in Puerta Varas for a few nights before flying to Santiago and then on to Peru.

Just wanted to know what the weather is going to be like on the trip, are we mad doing a lake crossing when its in the middle of winter or will the weather be quite mild. If anyone could help us we would really appreciate it, as we have to book this in the next few days and would like to be sure of what to expect.

Thanks

If the lake trip is in september rather than August then it will be spring. Even mid winter is not so cold, but winter is wetter than summer. It does rain though all year round in southern Chile.

Technically spring starts September 21st. But in Bariloche the ski season ends late October, so you can imagine what the weather is like there.

Chile will probably be quite rainy in the south, though it always seems to rain in Puerto Montt, for example. If you will be in that area, check out Puyehue, a hotel and spa with hot springs.
