My girlfriend and I are flying to santiago on friday. How are things in santiago after the earthquake today ? Hope everyone is fine

Apparently not technically an earthquake despite the magnitude due to lack of structural damage. There seem to be many ways of reading these things. We didn´t realise it was so large until we watched the news later in the evening. You have nothing to worry about.

We still aren't very good at detecting earthquakes in advance, so there's no real way to "schedule" for them. Chile seems to be in one of those zones, but the next big one could be in five minutes, or in 100 years.

Hehehe - We even had one here in Texas back in the 90s (like a 2.1 or something :o)
