Ibis Providencia - feedback on location

Hello Chileans

Was wondering if I can ask a question to the locals. Does anyone have any feedback on this hotel especially in terms of location. I really wanted to stay in Bellas Artes or La Starria but the rates of hotels are really high and my apartment hunting is not going well (Plaza Suites and Cerro Urbano).

Ibis Santiago Providencia

Av Providencia 1187

SANTIAGO

The reviews for this hotel is not bad so im thinking of getting the prepaid rate. Thanks much

Lastarria, the name of the street, one word. The Ibis is well located for both metro (walking distance) and restaurants and bars. You can see Av Manuel Montt on the map. That area has many restaurants and bars of every sort. It is a good location, perhaps a bit noisy but lively.

In terms of tourist attractions though, can we walk to tourist attractions from this location? Or is Bellas Artes and Lastarria the only location that is central? By the way, what area is considered city center in Santiago? Coz according to this site, the hotel is 4 km away from city center, I thought Providencia is considered central. Im just not familiar with the areas in Santiago

The centre of Santiago is generally considered to be the Plaza de Armas and the surrounding area. Providencia is an inner suburb.

It's a sprawling city, so some use of the good metro and bus option will probably be needed.

As said, the Ibis is only a few minutes from a metro station, and the trains are fast and frequent.

Since we are only in Santiago for 2 full days it would be nice to be able to walk everywhere. Is there such a location that would alllow us to do that or are tourist areas all over the place that you really have to take the metro or taxi?

What is the cost of the metro/bus anyways are there day passes?

I just realized after looking at the map that Bellas Artes and Lastarria are really close to Plaza de Armas. Manuel Montt station which is closest to the hotel is like 4 or 5 stops away from the plaza de Armas.

Too bad there are not a lot of great value options in Bellas Artes/Lastarria that match what im looking for in terms of budget and quality. If the price of the subway is not too bad then maybe the Ibis is the way to go. Its just nice to be able to go out of your hotel and walk everywhere instead of having to take public transportation

If you want to be near the historic center of the city, these apartments are in Bellas Artes and a reasonable price.

Well, I walked from Plaza de Armas to Providencia via San Cristobal. It was a lovely morning exploring.

Of course you can walk it - it's only a couple of miles, but the metro would be faster, and you have limited time.

There aren't many (any?) large capital cities where everything is within walking distance.
