Universidad de Santiago station for both Terminal Alameda (above the station) and Terminal Santiago. The buses leave from there.
You can't walk it. Get line 5 one stop and change at Baquedano for line1, then take line 1 to Universidad de Santiago. It would be a lot more comfortable in a taxi as you will have stairs and a fair walk connecting.
Agree, take a cab.
Bags and stairs, access controlled entries/exits, crowded Metro stations (Metro Baquedano, Metro U de Santiago) do not mix comfortably.
i think the best is to take the subway (green line) toward Baquedano, change to red one and go all the way to station Pajaritos, there every 5 minutes buses go to Valparaiso and dont need to walk far away with bags is right outside the subway station.
But ummmmm, the luggage issue? Not to mention what DM already posted???? Have you done this with multiple bags, multiple times to cover all possible bad luck scenarios? The multiple stairs, the crowds, the narrow controlled access points???
