Bus Service Santiago to Valparaiso

Next January we are flying to Santiago and then need to get to Valparaiso the next day to depart on a cruise.

I believe there may be a regular bus service between the two cities.

Can anyone please confirm this and add any further info.

Thanks

Tom

There are buses Everywhere 15 to 20 minutes, but they do not go to the airport. It is still possible to take the bus, but it can be awkward if you have a lot of luggage. An alternative is to take a taxi. If you search on this site you will find people offering to share one to the cruise terminal.

Thanks for your suggestions. We will be travelling to Valparaiso from Santiago city not airport and we will be four with luggage so sharing a taxi may not be possible.

I need to find where buses go from/to and times - I'll try Google!

Taking the bus is an option but you also mentioned that you were interested in going to a vineyard on a day trip to the Cajón del Maipo. You could combine going from Santiago to Valparaíso with a visit to a vineyard or two on the way and/or a brief tour of Valparaíso. This would be a private tour and transport. There is a recent thread which mentions a lot of different options:

The bus is not a good option if you have more than one suitcase each. You will have to be careful in bus stations. You can get a Turbus bus at their terminal above the Universidad de Santiago metro stop. The metro is not very suitcase friendly, so taking a taxi to the terminal is a good idea.

Another good solution is "The Van Man" at www.thevanmanadventures.com. A minibus or van transfer from your Santiago hotel or apartment to the cruise ship terminal in Valparaiso is about $55 per person. This includes luggage.
