Bunnik South America Tour

We are thinking for going with them next year for the 25 days South American Tour.

Have anyone done this or any other tour with Bunnik?

Please let us know your honest thoughts all the negatives and positives.

We are used to the bigger tour companies where we know exactly where we'll be staying, but for Bunnik accomodation list won't be finalised until near departure ate. What were their accomodation standards like in past travels?

Bunnik is an OZ agent for group tours world wide

not an SA specialist prices are quite high

beacause they sub their tours out after their cut.

www.latinamericaforless.com

www.kuodatours.com

does cheaper custom packages usually

Toucan Tours SA goup specialists for best value.

Thank you.

I've just contacted the first 2 enquiring if they can do multicountries as a tour group.

We have checked Tucan before and found that their tours are mostly adventure type, whilst we would like a bit more comfort but without having to break the piggy bank if possible.

We are based on OZ but will consider any tour agency as long as they are reputable and good.

Can you tell me if you have had any replies re Bunnik South American tours?

We are also contemplating travelling with them on the South American 35 day tour. They seem a lot cheaper than Scenic who has a shorter tour for more money.

Thank you

We have decided not to go with them because of the mixed reviews and a lot of uncertainties.

They seem to be able to secure cheaper prices by changing suppliers (hotel, flights) according to the price which means where you stay and when you fly can change during the tour.

We already have 1 tour which we like but being an upmarket tour it costs way too much. We will probably take a tour itinery and arrange for a semi independent tour. There seem to be a lot of them around.....they arrange a guide at one city, pick you up at the airport/bus station or wherever, brings you to hotel, take you sight seeing, take you back to train station and another local guide pick you up at the next destination. They come out cheaper than the group tour but you don't have the guide 24/7. We hope we will still be okay considering a lot of people have travelled through SA this way.

Please let us know who you decide to go with and of your experience.

Bon voyage!

Hi RoundDeWorld from Oz,

Have just been through this exercise; considered Bunnicks and read the reviews. Also first contact with them wasn't all that encouraging. Since you wrote:- <<We will probably take a tour itinery and arrange for a semi independent tour. Independant travel is our preferred option. did some research and came up with www.southamericantravelcentre.com.au a Melbourne based company that was recommended by a friend that has travelled South America.

SATC has produced an itinerary for us allowing us to travel just as you described with a degree of independance (very similar route and $ to Scenic but with a three night Amazon lodge included and hotels that get rave reviews on TA) Also allowed us to nominate QANTAS direct flights (about $100AUD dearer than LAN) but 13 hours non-stop direct flight as opposed to LAN @ 19 + hours with a 1 and half hour stopover in Auckland!

Hope this helps, Safe Travels...................Alan... Terrigal NSW

Just an update to South American tours for any Aussies who haven`t taken the plunge yet. In todays Sunday Mail, Chimu, who seem almost like private tours, have $1500 off the $7500 price, $500 more than on the web site, bringing it under $6000 for 21 days. Plus airfare which has been quite cheap lately with the extra flights.
