walking at sacred valley of the incas?

Hi,

Just how strenuous is the walk ? What kind of shoes? Will running shoes do?

Sorry what walk do you mean? The Sacred Valley of the Incas is a valley with a road along it which many companies offer as a day tour, using a coach and then doing a small amount of walking to visit the sites.

Running shoes would be perfect., depending on your itinerary you will end up walking for maybe an hour at Pisac ruins and the other sites much less. There are some steep steps but thousands of people of all ages and fitness do it every year.

Thank you so much.

It is our first trip to Peru. I may have other questions for you. Do you mind?

Anne, did you mean the Inca Trail?

Take a look at the most recent pages of the Peru forum and gather more information.

We are on a conference. We have free time in Cusco. Which hotel is better: Monasterio or Aranwa?

We're going to the Pisca market. We still have free time. Any suggestions?

thank you so much!

Aranwa and Monasterio are both fantastic hotels. As far as the property itself goes it would be hard to beat the Monasterio. Aranwa is much more of a luxury boutique hotel and the rooms are incredibly comfort. From a Value perspective I would much rather sleep in a Deluxe Room at the Aranwa than a regular room at the Monasterio as it's significantly less expensive and more comfortable in my opinion. Monasterio is also awesome though and you'd be unlikely to not thoroughly enjoy either of these properties.

Another option to consider based on the price range you are looking at would be La Casona. It's basically right across the street from the Monasterio, a little less expensive than the Monasterio and in my opinion the most comfortable hotel in all of Cusco.

Wonderful advice. Thank you.

We have tours planned for us in Cusco, but, as I said, we also have free time. Might even consider staying an extra day. Any other recommendations? You've been great. I don't want to take advantage of your time. If this is enought for you, just say so.

Tow important quetions, though: do we need meds for the high altitude? Are Cusco and Lima safe (as much as cities can be)?

Thanks ever so much again.

Anne
