Problems with cusco city tour company

Any one else have bad vibes with this company? Very professional sounding...nice sale pitch but NO FOLLOW through. Found them to be unprofessional. Wanted to charge us NY Tax on Peru Tour!!!

They have 3 or 4 phone numbers and they are actually in NY.

Probably they are subcontracting a local company. In addition, what kind of name is that? Seems pretty generic.

The actual name is CuscoCity. I am sure they are subcontracting...a lot of them do. Steer clear try Cusco Native instead.

We wound up doing all of Peru with Cusco-Native...Renato (owner) was helpful, informative, friendly, and in Cusco. Also, we are basically "seasoned" travelers and were not interested in being sold tours we didn't want. Renato, did not try and push things on us. Just supplied us with what we asked for and for a great price. We had 3 different guides and all were knowledgeable, professional and spoke English very well.

DO NOT USE CUSCOCITY!!

I purchased several items with Cuscocity. The main thing was the one day Machu Picchu tour (which include the round trip train ticket, round trip bus and admission to Machu Picchu). I also purchased a citytour and the Boleto Turistico.

Unlike some others at first things were going well, after giving my info, all of my items were comfirm. Even with the digital age, I still make copies of any purchases and take them with me.

When I arrived in Cusco, as promised Cuscocity had a package waiting for me at my hostal. The package was to have my Machu Picchu tickets, city tour tickets and Boleto Turistico.

My Boleto Turistico was missing. When the representive came to escort me for the city tour, I told her that the Boleto Turistico was not in the package. The young lady attempt to call the local contact concerning this. He never called her. I sent a quick email concerning this before the tour. All the places (except the first one) required the Boleto Turistico, this is why I wanted in advance. I purchased one for the city tour.

The local contact called my hostal after 11:00 p.m. I was sleep at the time. He called back in the morning and told me he was sorry about the error. He offerred to correct this and ask was it anything else he could do. I told him that setting up my taxi from the hostal to the bus station and back the next day. The local contact agree to have a taxi set up.

The morning of my Machu Picchu tour, I was in the lobby area early. NO TAXI EVER CAME! My hostal called for a taxi and also called the local contact. HE NEVER CALLED!

When I got to the bus station, the bus that I was assigned to was gone and I had to take a taxi from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. I lucked out because Peru rail let me take another train. I paid for the Vistadome but took the Expedition going.

I sent several emails to Ed of Cuscocity and guest what, NO REPLY AT ALL!

I END UP SPENDING MORE MONEY BECAUSE OF CUSCOSITY AND NO REPLY BACK AFTER MAJOR ERROR.

I just want my money back for the errors.

I tried to give them a benefit of a doubt because they did right at first, but in the end, I got burn major.

DO NOT USE THEM!!

I had a similarly bad experience with CuscoCity, but just for the purchase of Machu Picchu entrance tickets. First it took a lot of emails and ultimately a call to their toll-free number to get them to even buy the tickets. Then the promised-in-writing ticket delivery to our hotel was never made, despite numerous calls to the in-country contact's cell phone. In addition to being frauds and lying about the delivery (for which we wasted 3 hours waiting in the hotel lobby), they were rude to and hung up on the hotel staff who tried to help us with one of the calls.

Based on our experience and that of the previous poster, I would avoid using this company. The anxiety they created just wasn't worth it. They talk a good game, but like a used-car salesman, they don't deliver on their promises.
