lonely planet tour suggestion

Has anyone done the lonely planet amazon tour from the 2010 edition. We heard great things about it but just wandered if anyone had further details, like getting there, where you can book it, tour durations and what you can see? cheers

Lonely Planet is awesome for rough info and narrowing down your plans but be sure to compare everything you are tentatively planning here to verify the accuracy. We had good luck in most of the advice from our LP guide except for the place we first stayed in Arequipa--it went from bad to horrible and we ended up walking out with our bags in our hands to wander and look for another place. Unfortunately, because it was cited in ink in that guide, future tourists will continue to be sent there without realizing the place doesn't care to provide quality service any more now that they have this permanent advertisement.

When planning, be sure to be flexible and talk to other tourists when waiting in airports and on buses. You can find some of the best up-to-date info on ideas and places to go/see/avoid from people who just left there.
