Fishing gear bring or leave at home?

We are leaving in 5 days for Peru. I have not read anything on if the lodges have adequate fishing tackle and rods & reels?

Do not bring your fishing gear unless that is the whole purpose of your trip.

I would suggest that you contact Otorongo Lodge, Anthony, the owner, is known as one of the best fishing guides in the Amazon, he has all the gear and the knowledge of where to go. Fishing is a different animal in the jungle.

Best to write to the lodge if you are a serious fisherman. The average lodge is not going to have the kind of gear you want for things like peacock bass. Also if that is your interest, there may be specific guides that are better than others.
