Inca trail Tour Operators

Hi,

We are going to do the inca trail in December and we are going to book with Machete Tours. Has anyone had any experiences with this agency?

Never heard of them. Be sure you are booking with a registered Inca Trail operator. Some are just the middleman, using other unknown agencies for the trek.

We used Llama Path and thought they were great. Other trekking companies often recommended on this forum include Peru Treks, Q'ente, Pachamama Explorers.

cuscoguides.com is a website set up by llama path to direct potential business to llama path. Andean travel web while a very informative website was created by Peru Trek for the same purpose. If they were both honest about this then fair enough but they are not in the slightest. Both pretend to be impartial and by doing so take a lot of business which may have gone elsewhere. There are many other agencies out there who are equally good and not mentioned by these two sites or are way down their lists. In answer to the original question I have heard of machete tours but know nothing about them but hopefully someone who has actually used them will be able to comment.

Well, this agency is a registered inca trail operator and they have offices in Lima and Cusco, I found them through the andean travel web and they are down in the list. He communicated with me immediately and answered all my questions and his price was a decent one.

Now its getting late because soon the permits for December will be taken and I am panicking and have to decide.

machete I think specialises in jungle trips rather than inca trail but if they are a registered IT operator go with them.

I have received great reports about Mother Earth Tours www.motherearthtours.com. I have booked a group of 8 in June using Mother earth tours. Excellent attention from this group

Hi, I can see Machete Tours as an Licensed Inca trail operator for 2012 too. If you do not get entrances for Inca trail Machete Tours has also great alternative treks like the Salkantay to Machu Picchu 5 days or the outstanding 9 days trek to choquequirao to Machu Picchu!
