New years 2014

Spending a few nights in Montevideo over New Years with my husband this year. Any suggestions on what to do? We are in our early thirties. Will everyone be in Punta del Este - is it worth re-locating for a few nights?

After NYE not many things will happen in the capital, everyone flees towards the Eastern coast

TW: In my opinion it is better to spend more days in Punta del Este that Montevideo, because here (MVD) are not many people in those days

Much depends on your budget. Punta del Este is usually pretty pricey.

Montevideo during NYE can be exciting and fun, especially for a younger crowd. A tradition on New Year’s Eve (and Carnaval) is to throw water or beer on people walking by.
