I made a reservation at a hotel (Lido) in Caracas (through a travel agency, L&L Tours) but had to cancel due to a family emergency. According to the hotel policy, they would keep one night’s deposit in case of cancellation and I am fine with that, but they are supposed to reimburse the rest of what I paid (5 nights). They don’t seem to want to do this, and the travel agency is not being very helpful at all. I am wondering if there is anything I can do at this point. Has anyone experienced this kind of situation in Venezuela? Is there any kind of consumer protection department through which one can file a complaint (and if there is, would it be worth doing so)?
