Fiji...Fiji....

Hi, first visit to Fiji beginning of December,,, advice greatly appreciated... Booked a Bure at Tambua Sands Beach Resort, Coral Coast.... Are taxi's readily available at airport or should we pre-book transfer??

Are there any decent supermarkets on the way so we can stock up with bottled water, beer, nibbles etc??

Any other advice welcome.... A big thank you in anticipation..

Long trip by taxi negotiate price with driver, yes taxis readily available. Sigatoka Town is on the way so do supermarket shopping there, take a coffe break there too. Enjoy.

Most Fiji Taxi's do not use metres so do make sure you have an agreed price BEFORE getting in the cab.

There is a Western Union Currency exchange just before you enter the carpark (where the taxi's are located) so exchange some money into Fiji Dollars before you leave the airport.

PS the exchange rate is good there not like normal airport currency exchanges.

It is bizarre.

We also go at the Tambua sand early Dec.

We usually take a taxi from the airport to Nadi bus station for F$ 15-20 where you can buy drinks or fruits.

The market is next to the bus station.

From there we take the bus that will drop us right outside the resort for about F$ 15.

If however you decide to take a taxi all the way to Tambua sand it will cost you F$ 120 to F$ 170 or even more

in the evening-night.

what time do you normally arrive at Nadi airport ?

We were thinking of doing same this time but arrive on early flight ' 6 am ' so after customs etc it will be aprox 7 pm exiting airport .There is an express bus that runs directly from airport and think there is one departing 7.25 am [ Fiji time ] arriving Pacific harbour 11.55 am .Has anyone caught these buses from airport .Even having private transfers it still takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours for journey .

We have done the bus trip to pac harbour return. I issues whatsoever There are a few different companies that stop in At the airport and coming back is even easier just wait out the front of the resort and one will come soon enough and if they don’t stop at the terminal it’s only a few hundred meters from the main road

thank you for reply .

An alternative would be to hire a car from airport for 1 week .From what I have read the cost is aprox .600 FJD ? ? whuch is not bad when resort transfers cost aprox 200 FJD each was .

After travelling on Australia's roads' country and 'outback{ where you have to watch out for wild life} and city have found that as long as you take care and abide by speed limits etc [ in busese and transfer cars 'Any suggestions for local 'legal car hire in Fiji to check out and do you need an internation licence ?

We stayed at Tambua Sands in October and loved it. Hired a car from Avis - very easy. Great having independent transport, went to Sigatoka, Suva and checked out many resorts and beaches. Enjoy!
