What can we do from Nadi?!?

Right, our travel plans have changed again, we've decided to give Viwa a miss purely down to the costs involved with the transfers when including just this one resort (Nanuya>Octopus>Viwa>Octopus>Beachcomber>Matamanoa). Also as our flight gets in at 06:50 we're worried about getting the boat straight up to Nanuya in time, a little flight delay here, a customs problem there and we miss the boat.

For this reason we want to stay 2/3 nights in Nadi/Denarua area before heading up to Nanuya at a more leisurely pace. I'm just curious about what tours/activities we can do from here to occupy a few days.

Things to see and do around Nadi include:

Garden of the Sleeping Giant: Located about half and hour from Nadi, The Garden of Sleeping Giant is a beautiful orchid range started in 1977 by the late Raymond Burr, star of Perry Mason and Ironside.

Hot Mud Pools: The hot mud pools are located a few hundred meters from the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. This is a bit of an adventure as these pools are digged right into the ground. It's totally natural, there are no restaurants, no concrete pathway, no infrastructures except for a shower/toilet.

Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple: The Sri Siva Subramaniya temple is a Hindu temple in Nadi. It is at the southern end of the main road through Nadi. It is the largest Hindu temple in the Southern hemisphere.

Nadi Markets: Located one block south of Nadi Main Street, the Nadi Market offers a wide variety of fruit, vegetables and other produce. One whole section of the market, about thirty stalls, is devoted to just one product: kava

Jet Boat Ride: Jet Fiji offers exciting 30 minute jet boat rides on the Nadi River and through mangrove swamps. The rides begin in Port Denarau.

Natadola Beach: Fiji’s most beautiful beach, Natadola, is located 36 km south of Nadi.

Hope this helps!!

What a same you have deciided to miss Viwa. It is probably the nicest of all the resorts mentioned. The Yasawa Flyer leave Port Denarau (Nadi) at 8.30 each morning and returns at around 6pm each evening. The Viwa boat meets the Flyer at Octopus for th 1/2 hr tip to Viwa doing it the other way around it will meet the downward trip of th Flyer in the afternoon for the transfer to Viwa. Last trip we visited Viwa first then on to two other resorts further up the Yasawa chain of islands. We took advantage of some specials Viwa had at the time.

Fantastic resort, great people and very different to other areas of Fiji. Viwa is the most western of the Fiji group of Islands.

Beerwalk has given you a great run down on local things to do

Plus there is a lautoka day trip (grab a bus and have fun doing it local style)

You can also head to the coral coast (1 hour drive) and do the following

Sigatoka Sand Dunes

Waterfall horseriding trip

Tavuni Hillfort

Visiting local villages

Hot springs

Let me know if I can assist further
