V Australia Axes Fiji - replaced by Pacific Blue

Just to let you all know that from mid October V Australia are pulling the 777 aircraft from the Fiji route.

All flights will be replaced by Virgin Blue 737 aircraft.

Not totally happy about that change considering we have paid high airfares for Xmas on a full service airline, and will now be travelling Virgin Blue on a higher priced ticket, with no included movie/refreshments............

That's business for you. The same thing happened to us a few years ago when Air New Zealand stopped flying direct from LAX to Nadi. What a nightmare. Flights were booked and paid for as was the resort. Ended up have to change dates for flights and with the resort. Also had to pay a added fee for changing our flight from Reno to LA. Was a royal pain, put it all worked out and we had another amazing vacation to Fiji.

Would it be worth having a look at availability and perhaps if financials work out canceling one booking and re-booking with the other? Of course you will always have fees involved! That doesn't seem right if you paid for full service and now your not getting it with the other airline! I would double check with the airlines and perhaps make a complain who knows perhaps they may do something for you! Let us know how you go!

Just spoke to V Australia - they are offering a full refund.

I dislike flying very much, and its enough for me being on the Virgin 737 from Brissie to Hamilton Island every year............will have to look at Air Pacific, with its bigger plane!!!!

Thankyou so much for the comments and advice!

Luclen,

Great you are getting a full refund from V Australia.

When considering Air Pacific also consider their flight times, not sure what they are from Sydney but from Brisbane you lose your first day because you get there so late and you lose your last day because they fly out at 8 am rather than mid afternoon for Virgin Blue.

Hope it all works out for you

V Australia never flew out of Brisbane anyway and was shared with Pacific Blue on some days. Buy the sears with extra leg room if this is a problem. It is not a long flight from Sydney or Brisbane. Thought they were a bit optomistic hoping to fill those big planes and now Jetstar is in the go and again you can buy extra leg room seats on these planes too. With Fiji at the end of the flight I'm not complaining. You should get a full refund though I do agree with that.

HI there

We just loved the V plane so much, so big (hence feel "bumps less!!) and the inflight entertainment unbelievable.........VB configuration of 3/3 with handheld entertainment just cannot match V flying eperience, plus the VB airfare much higher - cannot understand why??

Correct as you said Hooked On, you open the doors on arrival and there is Fiji!!!!!!!

As for Jetstar ("deathstar" as known in flyng circles - no thankyou not internationally, they have offer no customer service unlike VB which was constantly see on the news channels!!)

Happy holidaying!
