One night in Nadi

We are headed to Qamea in March and have to spend one night in Nadi. Our morning flight to Qamea is at 6:45 a.m. Would you stay close to the airport? We have all day Sat. since we arrive at 5:10 a.m. What would you do or go see? Would it be good to hire a car and driver for the day? This is our first time to Fiji and don't know what is reasonable to plan. Thanks for suggestions, Terry21

You could stay just across the road from the airport a Raffles or travel about 15 minutes and stay at The Anchorage or First Landing resorts there isn’t all that much to see in the Nandi area (not exactly a must see or must do type of place) so after a long flight and an early morning arrival I think I would just laze around the pool (get into Fiji time) have lunch and drinks at Vuda Point Yacht Club then a couple of drinks and diner at the resort

One of the resorts at Denarau are also an option. It is about a 25 minute cab ride from the airport. You will have the option of visiting various resorts, restaurants, and doing some shopping. The downside you will have to get up early to clear your tab and get to the airport for your flight to Taveuni.

It might be best to stay at one of the resorts Dave mentioned and take a cab to Denarau for an hour or two.

The following has suggestions of things to do an see around Nadi, should you be up to it after your long flight.

We haven't been to Qamea, but have taken the flight from Nadi to Taveuni several times. The plane seats about 16 people and can be an experience depending on the weather. It is also often late leaving Nadi. Recommend you pack your swim suits, a change of of clothes or two in your carryon bags. If the plane is full the plane is, there is a chance not all your luggage will make the flight with you. Happened to us twice out of four flights. Our luggage arrived on a later flight the same day, but better to be safe than sorry.

Since this is your first trip to Fiji, you may find the following link helpful and informative. Has suggestions of things to take with you.

Hope this helps, and am sure you will have an amazing time at Qamea.
