Recommendations for a stop-over hotel?

Hi everyone,

Well, after some wonderful advice we have received on here we have finally booked our Fiji holiday for July :)

We're a family of 3 (2 adults and a toddler) and will be flying from Aus to Fiji with Air Pacific. We will need accommodation for the night of our arrival (before heading out to Navini first thing the next morning) and also, on our way home we'll be coming back from The Outrigger around lunchtime so have the afternoon and evening to spend shopping/eating and stay the night, before flying out the next morning.

Originally we were thinking of staying in Nadi on the way in and Denarau on the way out, but Denarau seems a bit too pricey for a one night stop over. We don't need anything too flash, just clean, suitable for a toddler and preferably a place that includes breakfast.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Have a look at Raffles, near the airport, about 100 metres down the road.

Or The Terraces Apartments at Denarau, across the road from the marina. Check www.wotif.com for prices and then email them to get a better price.

When we stayed in August, prices were cheaper than Raffles then and we liked the position better, quieter and not on the main road like Raffles.

But prices do depend on the timing.

all the best with the planning.

We usually use Raffles. It has never seemed noisy, even though it is on the main road & close to the airport. Ask for a ground floor room so you don't have to negotiate stairs with bags & toddler.

We've used Novotel in the past for the overnight stop. Booking online we managed a deal which included breakfast. Enjoyed having my eggs cooked however I wanted them. Awesome adventures will do a pick up from the Novotel to catch the Yasawa Flyer.

Can highly recommend the Tanoa International as a great hotel for a stop over.

What time does your flight arrive in Nadi? You should be able to get to Navini the same day. The resort offers 24/7 transportation to the island.

We returned from Navini this week. If you would like to see pictures, send me your e-mail address in a private message. Still have to put captions under the pictures and do some sorting. Will be happy to share them with you, when we get them on Picasa.

Thanks everyone :) Will check out your suggestions.

E&CinReno, that's so lovely of you to offer your pics, thank you :), will pm you my email address. Our flight is arriving in Nadi at 7pm, we had considered taking the transfer to Navini on arrival, but in the end we just weren't prepared to risk taking a boat transfer in the dark with our daughter (who will probably be a bit cranky and restless by then! :))

Can suggest Raffles Gateway just near the airport and they do have a free shuttle service. I used this hotel on a previous stay for a day and night and was pleasantly supprised. Good room very clean and a wonderful pool with waterslide. We dined at the restaurant outside and had a lovely meal. It was much better than expected in fact we would even use it again for a couple of nights pre or post travels.
