1st time travellers- couple to fiji! any advice will help!

Hi,

My husband and I are wanting to go to fiji for 1 week from 9th dec. We have never been there, nor do we know anyone who has. We need help with everything! where exactly to go in fiji, what to see, what to stay away from. we are a couple in early 30's nil children, and would love a relaxing time, but also a bit of restaurant/nightlife. we are not really into adventure sports. would love to stay somewhere that is at the beach! any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks a million!

You have left it very late to arrange accommodation in Fiji,December is the school holidays and you will find that most of the resorts are booked out. There are many types of resorts with varying accommodation. What is your budget?

You may be lucky as the school holidays won't have started then. You could try Matamanoa, Navini, Tokoriki and Viwa resorts where you either won't find any or if so many children.

Try Malolo Lailai Island approx 50 mins from Nadi via the Malolo Cat. Musket Cove Resort has adults only Beachfront Bures, and Lagoon Bures which don't accommodate young children. Plenty to do on the island , and choice of restaurants as other resorts are located on there. The island bar has cheap drinks and good for socialising with other guests and visiting yachties to the marina.

You'll be lucky to get a booking, school holidays commence in Queensland on 9 December, and private/independent and Catholic schools finish this Friday 2 December, and in some other states the following week.

IMO book asap. all the best LTB

Thanks a million...can you tell me if I go from sigatoka to malolo lailai, what is the cheapest way? we plan to land in nadi, and spend 2 days in sigatoka and then to lailai, but are unsure where to go first, and secondly how to go from one to another and how much would it cost. THANKS!

If you have only a week why are you going to Sigatoka? Beaches not the best - and you will not get the best weather in that part of the country - December is in the rainy/hot season and it will be far worse there than in the Mamanuca or Yasawa island groups.

If you do go to Sigatoka, you have to get a local bus, taxi or private transfer back to Denarau Marina where the Malolo Cat departs.

If you stay at Musket Cove they will book the boat for you. It's around A$120 return.

There's 4 trips from Denarau to MLL island daily and 4 trips back.

Departures from Denarau Marina leave at

07:30 10:30 14:00 17:30

Ex Malolo Lailai:

05:45 08:45 12:15 16:00

enjoy LTB
