First time in Fiji

my new husband and i are planning on coming to Fiji for our honeymoon in January 2014 after spending a few weeks in NZ

i have read that it's the wet season then, i was wondering if any of the islands are drier at all?

We would love to stay somewhere romantic and not too resorty (preferably child free) e.g. no where over run with kids clubs etc, being our honeymoon and all!

Thanks for your help in advance!

I don't know if Mololo is "dryer" but we are staying at Lomani Resort for our honeymoon - Adults only!

On the cheaper (as far as Fiji adults only resorts) end:

Lomani Island Resort

Matamanoa Island Resort

and then higher end is Tokoriki Island Resort.

Jan is smack bang in the middle of cyclone/wet season in Fiji, and has been the month numerous times in recent years where Fiji has experienced mass flooding, etc.

Last year December was when Cyclone Evan came through and hammered areas of Fiji.

Drier can be unless there is a low depression over all of Fiji with everywhere getting rain. The islands are usually drier because they are a smaller land mass. During the wet season the mainland (Viti Levu) and other bigger islands get some rain almost daily. The eastern side of Viti Levu and the island to the east get more rain than the western sector, including the Mamanuca and Yasawa island groups. Tokoriki or Viwa (in the lower Yasawa Group) would be my picks for a honeymoon simply necause they ooffer more privacy than the others mentioned. Matamanoa is a very poplular honeymoon destination and is a lovely but if you want something special Tokoriki or Viwa.

Or it might be fine and sunny every day.

Apparently the worst day in Fiji is better than your best day at work.

Even if it's raining, the food, people, and temperatures will still be nice.

absolutely! We just need to figure out where we will spend our last week! We are in NZ two weeks before so will do either the last week in Fiji or maybe Tahiti

Fiji is definitely the favourite though :)

looks amazing and so beautiful!

You will love Fiji, have stayed at Viwa and it was beautiful. Nice bures, great food and lovely scenery. Their website usually has a 6 or 7 night stay, and pay for 5 nights
