Airline consolidator

Has anyone used an airline consolidator for flights to Fiji? We will be leaving from California. As of now the best fares for August seem to be on Fiji Airways. Thank you, Cherie

Hi Cherie,

What do you mean by consolidator? Fiji Airways is the only airline with direct flights from the states to Fiji. Unfortunately, we don't have the options of airlines like those in Australia or New Zealand. You could book with a airline they code share with. They will be more expensive, and you will fly on Fiji Airways planes.

Hope this helps.

From Google.....An airline consolidator is a wholesaler of airline tickets. Airlines use consolidators as a means to reach out to more niche target audiences and by offering discounts & fare flexibility that is relevant to the target group

There are good airfares to be had right now Cherie. Fiji Airways is very competitive with Air New Zealand, generally when one has a special the other drops it prices too. Currently Air NZ has special deals due to end at midnight the 24th of Feb (that's NZ time) first I got their email alert and four and a half hours later I received one from Fiji Airways offering similar pricing. So, if you're thinking about booking at the currently offered prices, do so within the next few days before the deal expires. There's bound to be more special deals though between now and August, I booked our fares for March in October last year and have seen the same prices offered several times since.

Hi

The specials offered by AirNZ at present are for people travelling from NZ to the Pacific Islands.

Specials from other locations such as the USA and Canada often happen at different times. You probably already have the link to their US site but in case you haven't this is it.

I'm sure you can register for email alerts of specials, just like we can in NZ.

But one thing to bear in mind is that August is high season in Fiji so fares may not necessarily get cheaper closer to the date. Looking for the best fares is a bit like playing chicken with the airlines - do I wait for a better fare or jump in now?

Good luck with making your decision.

Thanks manaregular.

Haven't used a consolidator. We either book a package deal with a TA, or book accommodations and airfare ourselves separately......whichever is cheaper.

To clarify. Air New Zealand, and Qantas code share with Fiji Airways, and do not fly direct to Fiji. You can book with them, but will be flying on Fiji Airways planes. We have found them more expensive than booking direct with Fiji Airways.

As others have suggested, would monitor Fiji Airways website for specials, and sign up special fare alerts. The best we have found was around $900 per person from LAX to Nadi to give you an idea of a good fare.
