Some advice on to where to start

Please could I have a couple of suggestions to help me in my planning on a first time visit to Fiji.

We have 8 nights next month , mid May

A couple , would want beach front, pretty location, $150 200 ish per night

Want different restaurants to try , not restricted to hotel where staying. Some retail shops close by for browsing

Would like a couple of day trips from hotel whilst there

Does this info , suggest a couple of possibilities to any experienced forumites ?

Would be grateful for a few leads as to where to start looking

Late notice so I need to start booking air fares and a property

Thank you

What currency Hepsprings? And what dates exactly are we talking? And would you be happy with pretty mainland accommodation or do you need a fab beach with excellent snorkeling (because if that's the case different suggestions will need to be made and they definitely won't include retail and a variety of restaurants are only available on Malolo Lailai Island).

Let us know and we'll do our best to provide some ideas for you to check out.

An Island atmosphere (with lovely white sandy beaches) does not offer a wide range of 'other restaurants' & shops nearby. Usually an island resort will have one small boutique for essentials. You can only find this on the 'mainland' say at one of the large Hotels at Port Denarau - lots of different restaurants in this area - outside of the resort accommodation. But the beaches are nothing like the Island beaches - black sand and area is reclaimed mangrove swamp. Day trips to Islands are plentiful from Denarau.

Another suggestion is one of the resorts around on the Coral Coast - say Outrigger, Bedarra Beach Inn - there are a few other restaurants within walk distance from these resorts. You might have to 'up' your budget somewhat though wherever you stay. Beaches are quite different around the Coral Coast area, to that of the Islands also. Nearest shopping centre would be Sigatoka - but not an huge of 'upmarket' retailers to choose from.

Nadi town has many shops for 'browsing' , a few like Prouds/Tappoos but not many like available at Denarau. And no resorts on beachfront in this immediate area (Nadi)

And remember that the Aust.and NZ school holidays are coming up -many resorts/hotels will already be heavily booked and overrun with children....... 'Beachfront and pretty location' to me leans heavily towards an Island atmosphere. Good luck in choosing somewhere which fits all your requirements.
