Weather question.... December/January??

Ok sorry to ask the weather question, but am trying to find a beautiful tropical beachy overseas holiday destination for the most expensive time of the year - yes around Xmas and New year!!!

Wondering what the weather really is like around December/January??

We have travelled to Fiji some years ago and that was in October.

We are family travelling with 2 kids ages 9 & 11.

We have also travelled to Phuket 3 times in June, July & September which is during their Monsoon Season.... is this similar weather??

Thanks :)

We are usually in Fiji in Dec./Jan and on the islands it is usually lovely. Not as hot and humidlas the mainland resorts. It is the wet season but after just coming back in the supposed dry season we got more rain, and wind than we have ever experienced. Guess you have to take what mother nature put out, still had a wonderful holiday.

We were there in Jan this year and had perfect weather.....stayed at Pacific Harbour for a few nights and had rain at night, Coral Coast a sprinkle through the night and lastly out on an island and clear blue sunny skies...we did spend one night at Denarua before we caught our transfer and it was HOT, no breeze just very hot and humid....would travel again in January

Bula

We have stayed the last 3 xmas new year missed the Cyclone by days but as stated it is the wet season but when it rains its still very warm last Xmas perfect weather hardly any rain 31c .We stay 2,5 hours from Nadi given up on the larger island resorts as we travel out to smaller islands with beautiful beaches and no tourists. I think its a good time to go the only down side is lots of people travelling.

You have to remember that Fiji is on the same latitude as Cairns so they get similar weather.

Have stayed on the Main Land during January and not had any trouble.

We stayed in Fiji, in the Mamanuca's over Christmas and New Years in 2011. The weather was lovely, yes it was hot, but that's we love. Humidity wasn't bad, it did rain a little, 1 night a heavy shower which lasted about an hour, and just a few showers during the day over the 2 weeks we stayed. We are travelling again this Christmas to Fiji, the Mamanuca's again.
