Cruise or Issland Hop

My Wife and I are planning our first trip to French Polynesia. We are torn between a 10 day cruise (Paul Gauguin or Regent Seven Seas Mariner) or Island hop and stay in resorts. We are well traveled so exploring alone is not an issue. Airfare is not an issue with frequent flyer miles. Budget for the trip is $25K +-. Thanks in advance

What we have done a couple of times is the PG cruise coupled with some time on an island. Our first time we did 5 nights at the Hilton on Moorea. Last July we did 4 nights precruise at the Hilton and 6 post cruise at the Kia Ora on Rangiora. I think combining both is spectacular.

We're taking our second PG cruise next month, and I'm really looking forward to combining it with a 3 night pre-cruise at the IC on Moorea and 5 night post-cruise at Vahine Island Resort.

My husband & I are taking the 11day Paul Gauguin Cruise in Nov. After looking at reviews it seems to be the best way to see the cooks & society islands without all the packing & unpacking, island hoping etc. The flight can be tiring so a pre-cruise stay on Moorea was recommended to us. We too struggled with what to do. We want to do it all & are trying to budget with $20k. Hope you figure it out, we just took the leap finally & are hoping for the best!
