1. Re: How to translate

I am a vegetarian - Ja sam vegetarijanac. I may have the wrong ending but no doubt one of the Croatian posters will correct me. But don't worry people will understand even if my ending is incorrect! Croatian endings are a nightmare - at least they are for me!

Thank you Morlaque - I wish it were true but anyway you've made my day. Quite often I disregard endings but people still seem to understand me - perhaps they assume I come from Nis!!

Perhaps you could translate for Souptraveller - I AM ALLERGIC TO SHELLFISH.

@ DannyG :))))))))

I am allergic to shellfish.

For male: Alergican sam na skoljke. (Alerghichna sam na shkoljke)

For female: Alergicna sam na skoljke (Alerghichna sam na shkoljke)

Small difference in ending of the first word. The part for pronouncing it is not the best but the message will get through as soon as they hear the first word

Souptraveller, you asked the same question already. Were you hoping to get a simpler translation now? Unfortunately it is not possible.

Morlaque, you have mixed the genders a little bit, doesn't metter, when Souptraveller pronounces it ,no one will notice the difference

(Morlače zapetljao si sad)

Souptraveller and Danny, here is a perfect link for learning the basic Croatian, incl. pronunciation:

Thanks for the link Jelsa. I don't have a problem with basic vocabulary or pronunciation. My problem is with grammar and syntax!
