Budapest through Croatia to Italy - ideas??

When we leave Budapest is it logical to take a train to Venice and make some stops in Croatia? Where should we aim for in Croatia?

How long is your planned trip for?

If you must go to Venice, take the ferry from there to Porec,Rovinj or Pula, where you go from there depends on how much time you have.

There are trains direct from Budapest to Zagreb

You could take the train from Budapest to Zagreb, than go to Zadar and Split and take the ferry to Ancona and by train get to Venice. It depends on how much time you have.
