"Beyond Travel" Best of Croatia

We are a party of 4 people (2 couples) in our late 50's and early 60's. We have booked a trip with "Beyond Travel" (Australia) titled "Best of Croatia" leaving Dubrovnik in September 2012 for 11 nights, finishing in Zagreb. We have booked 2 cabins on the Main/Upper deck. We are not sure at this stage if we will be on the MS Eden or MS Afrodita. Does anyone have comments regarding these vessels and this tour please? Thank you

We've just returned from a one week cruise on MS Afrodita. We had the most amazing holiday. Our itinerary was from Split down to Dubrovnik and back to Split calling at Brac, Makarska, Korcula, Miljet and Hvar. Plenty of stops in quiet bays for swimming off the boat in crystal clear water. We had Upper Deck cabin/en suite shower. Crew were fantastic, friendly, helpful(good english spoken). Breakfast & lunch were simple but delicious. Dinner wasn't included but we were in port every night so you could explore and make your own choice of restaurant. Good mix of passengers included British, Australian, Scandinavian, Swiss. Vessel is well appointed and beautifully maintained. We tied up alongside MS Eden on our return to Split. Sister ship and equally impressive (we're obviously biased towards Afrodita but I'm sure you won't be disappointed with either). Hope this review helps.

HI just wondering how you found your Split to Split cruise with Beyond Travel - it sounds like the same cruise I am looking at booking and would be interested to see what you thought of it.

We are mature experienced travellers and have just returned from a week on the MS Afrodita. The boat is ideal being small with 28 passengers for sailing the Dalmatian coast. Itinerary is great with visits the best ports on this beautiful coast as well as time to swim every day in small coves.

Criticism is the crew were very very unfriendly and reluctant to provide anything but the minimum service. Simple requests such as a clean towel or sheet were met with " No you dirtied the towel or sheet so no others can be supplied" . The chef needs to be trained as lunch was uneatable on many occasions. Such a pity.

Ports are beautiful but spoilt by boats filled with teenagers partying with loud music till midnight.

However we enjoyed the holiday but would not book the MS Afrodita again. Maybe their other boat the MS Eden has a more friendly crew.

We made our initial enquiry regarding the "Beyond Travel" tour in Croatia. We did the trip in September 2012 and were on MS Afrodita. We fully agree with the comments made by "Clontarf". The small size of the ship is an ideal way to explore the area, however, the rafting of the boats in the ports and the disgusting, drunken nightly parties by young people on the surrounding boats was difficult to put up with night after night. We too found the crew - especially the captain - very unfriendly. Fortunately our tour guide supplied by "Beyond Travel" - Martin - was fantastic and tried his utmost to make our trip the best it could be given the problems with the captain. Having said all of this, we still enjoyed our trip, would love to visit Croatia again, but definitely not on a "Beyond Travel" package unless it is done differently.

My husband and I also did a trip in September 2012 and also agree with the above comments with the exception of the chef. We found on most occassions that all the meals were of decent quality given the strict confines of the galley that he had to work in.

We loved the trip and all the ports and we were fortunate enough to have a fantastic group of fellow travellers.

The docking of the boats side by side was an issue. We were extremely cranky that we paid probably four times the amount that some of those drunken fools paid and then had to put up with their "partying, all night and sometimes during the day. Quite often these travellers were fellow Australians and it was disgusting.

The boats that cater to this type of traveller should be made to dock out to sea well away from everyone else. The travellers on those boats are obviously not interesetd in the culture etc of the place where they have docked, only where their next drink is coming from and who can yell the loudest. .

Everyone likes to have a good time regardless of what you have paid but enough is enough. There is a curfew that applies to all the boats/ships that are docked together. It is up to the Captains o the vessels to enforce this curfew. Thje captain on Afrodite did not do a thing about it. And yes I agree with previous comment that he was an absolute pig and could not give a toss about the paying pasengers on board.

To give him his dues, he runs a tight ship, safety is not an issue and his navigational skills were exceptional. However he needs some lessons in how to interact with his paying passengers.

Our tour guide was also named Martin and if he is the same Martin previously mentioned he was fantastic.

He copped so much abuse from the Captain & crew for reasons none of our group could ever work out but at all times he was extremely courteous, friendly and helpful to all the tour group.

All up we enjoyed the trip and would also love to return to beautiful Croatia.

I am considering a tour with Beyond Croatia, but land content only from Slovenia to Split. Were you happy with this part of the tour? I am also considering a cruise with another company on a Gulet, probably the Andi or Atlantia, but don't want to be disturbed by drunken party goers. Wondering if all the boats dock in the same place at night?. Any recommendations would be appreciated as I am in the early planning stages of a trip next year to Croatia, Bosnia and Slovenia.
