Bus Travel between Croatia & BiH & Kotor

Car rental is quite expensive in this area, so we are looking at mostly traveling between cities by bus. Are there any areas where you would recommend car rental over bus transport? What is bus travel like in Croatia and between Croatia and Bosnia and Kotor for less than 8 hour journeys? Is it safe, comfortable and reliable? Any information will be appreciated.

I traveled between Dubrovnik and Kotor (no problem) and have read many accounts of travelers going to BiH via bus. I had some difficulty finding schedules in advance on the internet, but no troubles otherwise.

From Sarajevo, there are buses to Croatia, either to Split or Dubrovnik. For more info on Sarajevo bus station, please post on BiH forum.
