Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes

I will be in Zagreb the first week of May.

I'm looking for a day trip to the lakes. Any organized trips that any one can recommend?

Hope someone else will recommend from their personal experience, just wanted to let you know that city official tourist site link this agency for day trips from Zagreb:

IMO you can do this on your own, simply take a bus to Plitvice and back (cca 2 hrs ride one way, 6 daily departures). Timetable:

Can I also go from Zagreb to Ljubliana or other near-border Slovenian cities,by bus?

I'm interested in day trips from Zagreb,on my own.

Not with organized tours.

As already said, yes you can go to Ljubljana by bus, plus you can go there with train as well. As for day trips, it is really easy to get to Varazdin (old baroque town north of Zagreb); Samobor, a small town just outside Zagreb, or perhaps visit the little town of Krapina and their Neanderthal museum.
