Currency

Hi

Where can I get Romanian currency from in the UK? I go there next Tuesday (22nd July) & tried to get some from my bank today but was unable to. I just wanted to have a little to pay for a bus or train from the airport to Bucharest.

hi

you dont need to came with lei from the UK .

just use ATM at bucharest airport , if you dont use ATM card

came with pound and

buy only 50 + - lei in the airport [bad change rate] .

the bus is very cheap 3.5 lei .

you can buy the "The MULTIPLU card"

minimum 2 journeys/maximum 10 journeys ( urban, suburb areas, Express)

the bus to the city center is 783 and the bus to the train station is 780 ,

bouth are called Express .

The price for the MULTIPLU card is 1,6 lei, so you will pay just 8.6 lei .

http://ratb.ro/eng/card_multiplu_eng.php

in the city you will found banks or change office with normal rate ,

just look that its 0% comision .

Thank you for that....very interesting. Do you know how long a MULTIPLU card is valid for> I am in Romania for 6 days I will be in Bucharest for the first and last day & on those days will want to travel into the city from my hotel & to/from the airport so a card could be useful for those two days.

From Bucharest I go to Sibiu for 2 days & Brasov for 2 days. I am unsure yet whether I will be travelling by bus or train

Hi

in this case that you want use also a city transport in bucharest

and not only from the airport to the city I recomend you to use the :

"ACTIV CARD"

ratb.ro/eng/portofel_electronic_eng.php

the minimum amount that can be loaded on the electronic wallet – credit (without adding a certain type of subscription) is 15 lei, and the maximum amount is 50 lei.

a) The value of one RATB journey is:

1,3 lei for urban routes

3,5 lei for express lines

1,5 lei for Bucharest’s suburb lines

b) The price for a Metrorex journey is 2 lei.

with that card it will be easy for you to use all kind of public transport

in bucharest city .

I use that card and last time I put 50 lei and use the Express bus

and buss and metro in the city .

its like Electronic wallet so I dont think it have limit time .

if you go first bucharest to sibiu use the bus :

www.autogari.ro/curse…

and return from brasov to bucharest by train :
