vaccines for Nica

i see a hepatitis A shot is recommended. and maybe malaria shot. Is this necessary?

Hepatitis A is endemic in all of Central America. That means it's always around. If you aren't vaccinated, you are only as safe as the personal hygiene of those who are preparing and serving your food. Worth the risk? Not to me.

We did take malaria prophylaxis when we were there. Whether it's necessary depends partly on what part of the country you'll be visiting. It's not a vaccine, it's pills you take as a preventative.
