What to do if flying out of Managua early morning?

We're hoping to catch the early flight from Managua to Little Corn Islands, and also looks like the best bet for a flight home departs at 6:00am as well.

I'd like to spend as little time as possible in Managua since other areas seem more scenic/interesting, but if we have to be at the airport around 4:00am, would we be best off to just spend the night near the airport?

Would it be easy enough to spend most of the day/night in Granada or Laguna de Apoyo, and then just get a taxi or shuttle to a hotel in Managua to minimize our time there?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in Managua close/easy access to the airport?

Thank you!

You have Best Western Las Mercedes right across the street and Camino Real, they both offer shuttle service.

Thanks for the recommendation! Are we probably best to spend the night in Managua the night before, or are there some really reliable shuttles, etc. that would pick up from Granada around 4am (we'd have to be at the airport by 4:30 or so).

As Rodolfo said the best and close option a bit more pricy than granada but with a free shuttle service are Best wester and Camino Real best wester across the street and Camino real 5 minutes away both with shuttle services since 04:00am or earlier.

The other option will be staying in Granada and get a shuttle service like paxeos that will charge about US$ 20 or US$22 per person or a cab hire by the hotel that you will stay in Granada a taxy from Granada will be about an hour

Greetings J9ie: It is not recommended that you travel intercity at four in the morning. Just not a good idea for a variety of reasons. There are shuttles and taxis that would take you at that hour (arranged in advance) but the road conditions are such that it might be a bit tricky due to the drunks on and off the road, animals wandering the road, etc. In general, try to avoid being on the road so late/early when it is dark.

That said, Managua is not all bad and there are some nice places, but not around the airport area. We live up in the hills on the outskirts of Managua where it is cooler. We are bout ten minutes from the fancy mall and entertainment district and our view and swimming pool is gotta say it, outstanding.

If you are set on staying at either one of the airport area hotels and have the whole chain hotel experience, the Camino Real generally gets better marks than the Best Western. Enjoy Corn Island!

Yes I was thinking that it would be a good idea not to try and travel in the dark early morning hours, so I think we'll definitely book at Hotel Camino Real for the night before. Good to know their shuttles leave nice and early too! The pool area there actually looks pretty nice from the pictures too so I don't think I'd mind hanging out there at all. :)

Thanks for the feedback!
