Airport / hotel question

We are flying out of Panama City at 7:30 a.m and would like to spend the night at a hotel nearby, preferably with an airport shuttle. Any recommendations?

We are also considering flying to Bocas del Toro via Air Panama or Aeroperlas while in Panama. Do flights leave out of the international airport in Panama City?

Thanks in advance for your answers and suggestions.

HI lawyergirl, this is a commonly asked question because the closest hotel to the airport is the Riande Continental Airport hotel, they have a free shuttle to the airport but get mixed reviews in their service and quality. Check out their tripadvisor reviews and that will give you an idea.

There are other places you can stay at though just 1/2 hour or less from the airport, search "airport hotel" in the forums and you'll get lots of suggestions.

Flights to Bocas leave from the Marcos Gelabert Airport, aka Allbrook Airport, which is in Panama City, about 35 minutes from Tocumen International Airport (Depending on traffic could be more)

For a 7:30am flight you should leave any Panama City hotel about 5:30am - getting you there before 6:00am - plenty of time to checking normally (I just did it a couple of weeks ago).

This way you can have more choice as to where to stay and be able to enjoy Panama City - restaurants or other nightlife.

Albrook is basically on the opposite side of the city center to Tocumen International.

Cheers,

Andrew
