Traveling to Panama

We are going to panama with our 10 & 12 yr old kids. We are looking at 1 day in Panama City to tour canal, museum, etc., then trying to decide between Bocas town or San Carlos near Coronado for the other 5 days. Any advice??

Bocas or San Carlos -- it all depends. Bocas has beautiful beaches with warm, clear water. San Carlos has man-made beaches with murky, chillier water. In Bocas, you can snorkel and see lots of colorful coral and fish. In San Carlos you can snorkel and barely see the sand. San Carlos is close to El Valle with lots of activities and great hiking trails with beautiful vistas. Bocas has lots of activities that cost more, including guided hiking trails that I think are mediocre compared to El Valle. Getting to Bocas is either very time-consuming by bus, or very expensive by Air Panama. El Valle/San Carlos is much cheaper by bus, not available by air and ar much closer and cheaper by bus..
