traveling thru Panama

We;re trying to find areas in Panama that are not tourist attractions per say. We want to get to know the people and culture. Any suggestions appreciated. thanks

Half the population of Panama lives in Panama City - so just spending time there will give you an idea of the people and culture.

Or you could stay in a smaller town, Santiago for example, although not sure what you would do.

Really like Volcan, dont see many tourists here.

Thanks. It seems all the lodging is run by North Americans. would you know if there were other accomodations in this area run or owned by Panamanians?

Look up Celito Sur, a beatiful property, run by a Panamanian couple...its been in their family for many decades.

Nice folks too...hiked the Quetzal Trail with them yesterday.
