panama canal cruises

We are interested in taking as leisurely a trip as possible along the panama canal, possibly taking overnight stops along the way. Does anyone have any info on whether this is possible or any info on any cruises.

Thanx Donna

Do you mean by boat, car, or train?

I mean by boat, and it doesn't have to be the same boat on the same day.

Thanks Donna

There are Partial Transits that pass through two of the locks (Miraflores and Pedro Miguel) and the Culebra Cut - 4 to 5 hours.

There is the Full Transit that goes from ocean to ocean and takes 10 to 14 hours (depends on lock traffic) all up with the bus ride back.

And there is a full on cruise on the M/S Discovery, a catamaran that does 7 day cruises through the canal with a stop over on Lake Gatun - also covers Las Perlas and the Caribbean Coast. You can see their itinerary on www.pmatours.net. Might be more than you are looking for.

Cheers,

Andrew
