Veneto Hotel and Casino, if it is in your budget,

usually between 100-120 per night.

If that is too high stay across the street at The Las Vegas Hotel about $40 per night.

The Veneto and the casino attached to the El Panama Hotel, right behind the Veneto often have life bands. The El Panama Casino has a younger crowd with lots of dancing after 11pm.

Oh. no no no.. Dont go clubbing at a casino!! lol... Wherever you decide to stay, the hot spots in Panama City are the following:

Calle Uruguay - Its a street with much like the feeling of Miami Beach with rows of Club and bars. The best club in this section is Mystik.

Causeway - Another club hotspot, the best in this area being Play Lounge & Bar

Depending on the day of the week there are other clubs wich are the hotspot for that night.

Im pointing you towards the nightclub scene, there are many other things to do in Panama's night life.

Agree with above post. Depending on your budget, I think you would want hotels in the Bella Vista/Marbella area: Plaza Paitilla Inn, Radisson Decapolis, Miramar Intercontinental, Bristol, Continental, etc. The Causeway is OK to go to visit, but I wouldn't stay close to that area since it's away from the rest of the city.

How far is Intercontinental Playa Bonita Resort & Spa from the nightlife scene?

Is February a good time to go? How are the beaches?

What currency operates there?

Playa Bonita is about 20 mins from Panama City. February is not a good time to come if you are looking into the nightclub scene as most of the capital city would deserted (nightclub wise) due to the Carnival Festivities which are out on the street and not in nightclubs, also taking into consideration most people drive towards the interior of the country for these festivities.
