My wife and I are planning our first trip to Nantucket in August, 2021 and would like your input on where to stay to be able to walk to as many areas as possible. If B&B, would like private bath. And, do we need a car?

Thanks,

Will you be staying a week or more?

There are ferries for passengers to Nantucket from Harwichport, Hyannis, Woods Hole however, if you take the car then you must use The Steamship Authority out of Woods Hole. Their 2021 car reservations open for booking in January. If you stagger your arrival/departure so that you are not traveling on the weekend you will find more availability on one of the Steamship Authority ferries.

Opinions about Nantucket accommodations are subjective however, if you read the reviews of recent travelers, there is first hand info that may be of help to you. To see these guest reviews go to the very top of this page and input Nantucket and Accommodations, Things to Do and so forth while you are waiting for more responses.

Sorry about this odd format. Something is going on with TripAdvisor I guess.
